Time passes, slowly at first
then it seems to be speeding out of control
in the blink of an eye
you have left childhood behind
becoming an adult
with children and responsibilities.

As children
you thought friendships could never end
you would always be together
then disaster strikes
like a viper’s kiss
gone so fast, no time to cry.

Days turn into weeks
then months and years
but you remember your friend
always and forever.

A friendship ended on a tragic note
death is final; no turning back
memories are left to fill the void.
